Hear some of the fascinating stories of Tampa Bay commemorating the centennial of World War I and disclosing the neglected role of African Americans in the area. History Center docent Jim Weiss will survey the city of Tampa’s history and examine the African American experience. Renowned Florida historian, Gary Mormino, will address how World War I shook the foundations of Tampa Bay, while Sandra Rooks will trace the contributions and travails of African Americans in Pinellas County.
