Few antebellum homes survive in Florida today, but Chinsegut Hill, one of the remaining pre-Civil War plantation sites, endures. This property once was occupied by Native Americans and later by four white owners and their enslaved workers. Eventually, the federal government took possession. Hear all about Chinsegut’s fascinating history and the new partnership that will allow its cultural offerings to be enjoyed by visitors. Nancy Dalence is Curator of Education at the Tampa Bay History Center.
