As part of the City of Tampa’s Archives Week, the History Center offers a tour of Tampa’s “the Harlem of the South,” the Central Avenue district. Learn about life in Tampa’s African-American community, from the 1890s through the late 1960s, in The Scrub and along Central Avenue. This outdoor trek begins at the Tampa Park Plaza and explores the social, political, musical and religious traditions of Black life in Tampa.

History Center walking tours take place outdoors. Guests will walk approximately 1 mile. Pre-registration is required. Capacity limited.
