Madame Fortune Taylor Walking Tour

Fortune Taylor, a formerly enslaved person, was a true Tampa pioneer, business owner and community leader who amassed more than 30 acres of land along the eastern bank of the Hillsborough River in the 1800s. This walking tour will take you through the homestead of Madame Taylor, the namesake of downtown Tampa’s Fortune Street and the newly renamed Fortune Taylor Bridge. Meet at John F. Germany Public Library (900 N. Ashley Dr., Tampa, Fla.).
Each walking tour lasts 90-min. beginning at 10 a.m. from various locations. Limited to 25 people, participants will walk approximately one mile along public sidewalks and brick streets. Please wear comfortable shoes and attire for walking outside.
