Annual Duckwall Lecture:
Etched Feathers: History of the Printed Bird
Join local artist and collector John Costin on April 12 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. as he discusses the fine art of etched printing dating back to the 15th century and today. Birds have been the subjects and inspiration for Tampa’s own John Costin and other modern painters, ornithologists, and illustrators. Costin’s hand-painted etchings are created using a multi-step weeks-long process and many tools. Learn more as we examine the works and artistic techniques of Costin and other bird devotees.
The 14th annual Duckwall Lecture is made possible by the Frank E. Duckwall Foundation. Established in 1983, the foundation supports initiatives that make Florida history accessible to the Tampa Bay community and advance research of the state’s history.
