DESCRIPTION:The Black History Book Club closes the year with a discussion of Why We Can’t Wait by Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday\, Dec. 14. \nOriginally published in 1964\, the book offers a firsthand account of the Birmingham Campaign and a broader argument for the moral urgency of the civil rights movement. King examines nonviolent resistance\, political delay and the psychological toll of segregation while articulating a vision of justice rooted in democratic responsibility and human dignity. \nThis free event begins at 5:30 p.m. at 1213 N. Central Ave.\, at Tampa’s Black History Museum. Participants are invited to gather for a community-centered conversation reflecting on Black literature and authorship\, historical memory and the enduring role of narrative in shaping civic life. Copies of the book are available through the Tampa Bay History Center Museum Store or online retailers. \nRSVP
