Janine Quarles Adkins named program manager for Tampa’s Black History Museum

TAMPA, Fla. — Janine Quarles Adkins has been appointed program manager for Tampa’s Black History Museum, located at 1213 N. Central Ave. in Tampa’s Central Park neighborhood.

Quarles Adkins will work alongside colleagues at the Tampa Bay History Center and with Curator of Black History Fred Hearns to support public programs and exhibitions focused on Black history.

She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts, with a focus on history instruction for secondary education. Her professional background includes digital content creation and creative marketing for Abe Brown Ministries, Inc., and workforce development and special projects in content development and narrative strategy for the City of Tampa.

Tampa’s Black History Museum is a historic red brick structure between Central Avenue and Governor Street. A partnership between the Tampa Bay History Center and the Tampa Housing Authority, the museum preserves and highlights the cultural heritage and contributions of Tampa’s African American community through exhibits, educational programs and community events.
