About Teen Council

Tampa Bay History Center Teen Council members create and plan events and programs with other local teens and museum staff. Along with hosting teen events, members assist museum staff with public and special TBHC events. Teen Council also teams up with other teen organizations from local institutions.

Teen Council meets twice a month on Monday evenings for an hour and a half.

Teen Council members create and plan events and programs with other local teens and museum staff. Along with hosting teen events, members assist museum staff with public and special History Center events. Teen Council also teams up with other teen organizations from local institutions. Teen Council meets twice a month on Monday evenings for an hour and a half.

Education Volunteer

History-loving teens can volunteer to help with special projects in the Education Department. These projects can range from helping research for upcoming ventures or working with staff to create new programming for TBHC. Teen volunteers must be available at least two weekday afternoons a month.

Teen Council Volunteer Process:

  1. Submit your volunteer application. Applications and subsequent correspondence must be completed by the teen applying rather than a parent or guardian.
  2. To be a member of TBHC’s Teen Council you must complete the Teen Council Application below.
  3. Teens must also submit a recommendation letter from a non-relative adult. Teachers, mentors, employers, etc. are all accepted. Recommendation letters should be sent to the Education Department at [email protected]

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

As part of your application for Tampa Bay History Center’s Teen Council, you will be required to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, club advisor, school faculty member, etc. in order to be eligible for consideration. Please have the author of this letter forward their recommendation to [email protected] before December 31, 2025, in order for your application to be processed.

A Star-Spangled Story: Battle for America

Celebrate Independence Day at the Tampa Bay History Center with “A Star-Spangled Story: Battle for America,” a Smithsonian Channel documentary exploring the surprising history and secrets behind “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Screenings are included with gallery admission and will begin every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4, 2026.
