Tampa’s Black History Museum to host “Art & Soul” event on Sept. 6
TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 22, 2024) – Tampa’s Black History Museum, located at 1213 Central Avenue, will host “Art & Soul,” a free, public event on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The event promises an evening of fellowship, light refreshments, and exceptional entertainment, highlighting ethnic culture and Black history. Featured performers include soloist Darlene Butler, songstress Enoree Cummings, the Saint Luke AME Church Children’s Choir, and the talented youth from the Walton Academy for the Performing Arts.
“Art & Soul” is presented by the Tampa Bay History Center, the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), and the Tampa Housing Authority.
“The Art & Soul celebration highlights the shared vision of the Tampa Bay History Center and the Tampa Bay Chapter of ASALH,” said Fred Hearns, curator of Black history at the Tampa Bay History Center. “We will explore our history and enjoy music and fellowship at Tampa’s Black History Museum.”
Hearns also encourages anyone interested in advancing the new museum’s mission to join as members. Both organizations will share how the public can get involved and become members.
Parking is available on Ray Charles Boulevard or in the Trio Parking Garage next to the venue.
