Investigating Historic Florida: A Journey Through Its Authors
April 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Free
Examine the connections between Florida’s varied landscapes, turbulent past, and the authors who brought its stories to life. This presentation looks at the work of writers who drew lasting inspiration from the state—from Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Zora Neale Hurston, and Ernest Hemingway to John D. MacDonald, Carl Hiaasen, and Elmore Leonard. Their work reveals how Florida’s setting and history inform fiction that is both grounded and provocative.
Join the free “History in 60” discussion and history talk to explore how the state’s identity continues to influence American literature. Please register in advance to ensure everyone has a seat.
Check-in at the Visitor Services Welcome Desk and proceed to the TECO Learning Center on the third floor.
