Tampa Bay History Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas) and is located near three public parking garages within a 5 to 7-minute walk through the Water Street neighborhood.

The Water Street neighborhood has hundreds of parking spaces just around the corner.

You can access three public parking lots and garages within a 6-minute walk of the History Center. Read the complete location list below. Hourly parking fees vary based on availability and scheduled events at surrounding locations. 

School buses and group tours park at the Channelside Parking Garage.

We encourage you to use public transportation or ride-sharing services when possible. The History Center is located along Tampa’s Riverwalk and is walkable from all downtown hotels, the Tampa Convention Center, and is accessible via the Pirate Water Taxi and the Cross Bay Ferry.

The TECO Line Streetcar (always free) has two stops near the History Center. 

Alternative Transit

Coast Bike Share

Coast uses hundreds of bikes across Downtown Tampa and the University of South Florida to provide a healthy, affordable, convenient, and fun form of transit to the History Center. 

Cross Bay Ferry

Skip the traffic and enjoy a beautiful ride across Tampa Bay aboard The Provincetown III. Service is available Wednesday through Sunday in season only (November-April).

Pirate Water Taxi

With a budget-friendly day pass, you can cruise between 14 stops, including area restaurants and the History Center. Available Wednesday through Sunday. Open Live Tracker. 

The TECO Line Streetcar

Serving downtown Tampa and the surrounding areas, the TECO Line Streetcar is perfect for a fast and free ride to Sparkman Wharf. The closest stop is by HSBC Station #9 on Water Street. Open the Live Map.

  1. Traveling north on I-275, take the Ashley Street West Tampa Exit #44 to downtown. OR Traveling south on I-275, take the Downtown East-West Exit #45A to downtown. 
  2. Turn left on Jackson Street 
  3. Turn right on Morgan Street 
  4. Turn left on Channelside Drive 
  5. Turn right on Water Street
Gandy Blvd. & South Tampa
  1. Take Gandy Blvd. to Bayshore Blvd., turn left 
  2. Take Bayshore Blvd. until it ends at the Platt Street Bridge 
  3. Go over the bridge. The road becomes Channelside Drive. 
  4. Turn right on Water Street
Lee Roy Selmon Expressway (SR 618)
  1. Take Selmon Expressway Exit 8 (Downtown East)
