Ninety Miles and a Lifetime Away: Memories of Early Cuban Exiles recounts the first-person stories of people who witnessed the arrival of 600,000 Cuban refugees who came to the U.S. between 1959 and 1973. Authors David Powell and Gary Mormino, Ph.D., discover why so many left, how families prepared, and what they faced when they reached U.S. soil. Plus, find out how lessons learned during this daunting immigration crisis can be applied today.
History in 60 is a candid discussion with author David Powell and Dr. Gary Mormino on Wednesday, June 15 at noon in the TECO Learning Center. Free.
Both authors are part of the Speakers Bureau at Florida Humanities, which is co-sponsoring the event.
