$20
Historic 1847 map Plan of the Village of Tampa by John Jackson showing a grid of early Tampa streets and named property lots laid out after Fort Brooke land was reduced to help fund a new county courthouse

Explore the Jose Gaspar myth and body of fiction inspired by the pirate rogue! Genres vary as authors portray the legend as a folk tale, historical fiction, pulp novel, exploitation fiction, morality play, juvenile adventure, romance, and more. More recently, the legend has inspired many first-time and self-published authors to reimagine the myth. Taken together, the stories explore many facets of the Florida icon and the diverse approaches to the building of a local myth.
