January 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Virtual Event
Painting of a tarpon leaping from the water near a fishing boat, with the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse in the background.

This class explores the rich history of Florida fishing, from its rise as a tourist attraction in the late 1800s to the growth of sportfishing clubs and tournaments in the early 20th century. Learners will trace how Florida’s abundant waters and legendary game fish shaped its identity, with an optional visit to the exhibit showcasing the state’s enduring fish culture – including historic fishing maps by Rube Allyn.

The course will be held on January 7, 2026. The fee for both dates is $45, which includes museum admission prior to each session.
