Tampa Bay History Center members can join us for our VIP Member Reception preview of “Cinema in the Sunshine State,” the Tampa Bay History Center’s newest temporary exhibition, on Thursday, Sept. 17th, before it opens to the public on Sept. 19th.

Discover Florida’s remarkable filmmaking history, from its early years as a rival to California to the Sunshine State settings that brought Tarzan, Esther Williams and the Creature from the Black Lagoon to the screen. Original posters and lobby cards spanning the 1920s to today reveal how filmmakers transformed Florida’s landscapes into scenes of adventure, spectacle and suspense.

Tampa Bay History Center members will enjoy curator-led gallery talks, light refreshments and a cash bar during this exclusive evening reception. We are delighted to also invite Tampa Theatre members as our guests while their beloved theatre is still undergoing transformative renovations.

Admission is free for members, but registration is required.
